Susan Marie Pixley of 176 Weaver St. Aiken, SC., was born May 23, 1969 at home in Aiken

County. Susan Pixley was born to Louvenia Pixley and the late Joseph Melford, raised and educated in

Aiken County South Carolina. She was a long time employee of Bobbies Bar-B- Que of Warrenville, SC. and Club Car Inc of Augusta, GA.

Susan departed this life on January 3, 2025 at home with family.

Mrs. Ora Blanche Broadnax

Ridge Spring, SC - Funeral Services for Mrs. Ora Blanche Broadnax will be held 11:00am Sunday, 1/5/2025 at the Ridge Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald Hall, Pastor, officiating. Viewing will be 2:00pm - 4:00pm and 5:00pm - 6:30pm today, Saturday, 1/4/25 at the Ridge Hill Baptist Church. Interment will follow the church service on Sunday in the Church Cemetery.

Ora Blanche Broadnax was born July 22, 1933, in Ward, SC. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Williams (SAM) and Ida Landy Williams. She departed this earthly life bound for Heavenly gain on January 2, 2025, at NHC Health Care in West Columbia, South Carolina.

She was a graduate of Ridge Hill High School and furthered her education at Allen University.

She met, fell in love with and married the love of her life, James Broadnax.

To that union, three children were born. Her husband and two daughters, Stuwasky-Hankinson-and Chaurice Broadnax preceded her in death.

In her early years, all of her children’s clothes were made by her.

She was a very intelligent, educated and loving wife, mother and family member. She loved children, especially her own and she contributed faithfully as a community leader.

She taught elementary aged children for many years and touched the lives of many of those parents and children in the Ridge area.

She enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables, growing flowers, and making homemade lye soap which she shared with family and friends.

She was a biblically and physically strong woman. Her strength in God was seen when within one year she endured the transitioning of two daughters and was still able to go on.

Patrice commented that her grandmother had the tightest hugs and the most beautiful handwriting.

She was a faithful and dedicated member of the Ridge Hill Baptist Church where she held many positions in the church. She served in the choir, church clerk and many other auxiliaries. While serving as the Church Clerk, she worked tirelessly and seamlessly with all of the past and the present pastors to help the church function flawlessly. Her contribution to Ridge Hill Baptist Church is immeasurable.

She leaves to love, honor and cherish her beautiful memories, a son, Plato Broadnax (Gail), Columbia, SC, grandchildren, great grand, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Mrs. Lillie Mae Harris

Mrs. Lillie Mae Harris was born on August 7, 1935, in Edgefield, SC. She was the daughter of the late Ed and Jennie Miles. Lillie Mae Harris departed this earthly life to be with our Heavenly Father and her loved ones who have gone before her on Sunday, December 29, 2024 in ICU at Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center in Augusta, GA.

She attended the Crossroad School of Edgefield County and Edgefield Academy. She served as an Usher and Willing Worker at the Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Mrs. Lillie Miles married Robert Lewis Harris and to this union four children were born.

In addition to her parents, and siblings, Eddie Miles, Thomas Miles, Willis Miles, and Ora Bell Abney, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Harris and a daughter, Gloria Flynn.

She leaves many people to cherish her beautiful memories: her two sons, Phillip Miles (Marilyn), North Augusta, SC and David Harris (Theodora), Johnston, SC; three daughters, Daisy Pixley, Johnston, SC, Jennie Landrum, Ladson, SC and Nancy Harris (Lewis), Edgefield, SC; a sister, Ellen Price, Ridge Spring, SC, a sister-in-law, Frances Harris, Edgefield, SC; 22 grandchildren, 37 great- grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ms. Mamie Mae Childs Weaver’s life begin November 24, 1950, in Saluda County, South Carolina to the late George and Mary Ann Martin Childs. She departed this life on Thursday, December 26, 2024, in North Augusta, South Carolina.

Mamie lived her life to the fullest with loving family and friends. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. To know Mamie was to love her. She had such a given heart, a free spirit, and loved to cook. She was our coupon “QUEEN.”

Mamie attended the public schools and was a retired textile worker, having spent many years employed at Riegel Textile Mill in Johnston, SC. Mamie was a member of the Women’s Aid Society, Lodge 41, and Young Men Honor Society.

Mamie was a faithful servant of Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she was baptized at an early age. Mamie worked diligently in the church until COVID, and her health declined. She was a part of the Willing Workers Club and the Usher ministry.

In addition to her parents, Mamie was preceded in death by two siblings. She leaves to cherished her beautiful memories two daughters; Ms. Crystal Weaver of Concord, NC, and Mrs. Natasha (Minister N. Marcus) Langford of North Augusta, SC; one son Mr. Rodney Weaver of Aiken, SC; grandmother to four grandchildren: Gregory Covington and De ’honor Bradshaw of Concord, NC; Marquez Langford of Birmingham, AL and Kimmora Weaver of North Augusta, SC; great grandmother to one Jehlani Anderson of Concord, NC; four brothers: George Childs, Jr., Wallace (Delorise) Childs and Jerome Childs all of Aiken, SC, and James (Julia) Childs of Ward, SC; one sister Tilda Ann Verdell of Philadelphia, PA; one-brother-in-law, Elijah Burton, Jr of Johnston, SC; two very special individuals who had a very special place in her heart; Hattie Russell of Lexington, SC and Louise Oakman of Ridge Spring, SC; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other loved ones.



James Jones, Sr.

Johnston, SC- Funeral Services for Mr. James Farrow Jones, Sr. will be held 11:00am Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the Coleman RIdge Baptist Church, with the Rev. T.J. Conley, Pastor. Mr. James Jones, Sr. departed this earthly life and transitioned to his Heavenly home unexpectedly on Monday, December 16, 2024 at the age of 83. James Jones, Sr. was born on March 25, 1941, in South Carolina to the late Susie and Joshua Jones, but was raised by his stepmother Georgia Jones.

He was the beloved husband to his late wife, Linda Jones, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. He was preceded in death by his sister, Emma Liza, and brothers, Joshua, Luther, Bill, and Bob but survived by one sister, Susie Henderson.

James attended Ward Elementary, and Ridge Hill High School. He later relocated to Philadelphia where he met and married the love of his life, the late Linda Louise Gordon on August 30, 1969. They were blessed with eight children and one son who preceded him in death, Tony Gordon.

James was a very hardworking and humble man. He drove school buses in Edgefield County. While living in Philadelphia, he also drove buses, worked as a chef, and worked at Sears& Roebuck and Co. for about 20 years. He also did part-time work at the family business.

His hobbies included working on cars and doing various maintenance and repair projects in his free time. He had a resilient and strong spirit and stood up as man of the house. But, above all else, he loved and cherished his family and was a Father figure to many.

He had a very giving heart which was evidenceed by many. He served faithfully as a member of Coleman Ridge Baptist CHurch since his retirement in 2005. He drove the church van, served as treasurer, performed maintenance on the church van, and in other capacities in the church as it was needed. He was a quiet man, but had a strong faith and belief in God which was witnessed in the last years of his life as he dealt with various health issues.

HE leaves to love and cherish his memory: three daughters, Tina (Juan) Collazo, Michelle (Jones) Teague, and Deanna Jones, four sons, L.C. (Doris) Morris, James Jones, Jr. Shawn Jones, and Maurice (Takiera) Jones, sixteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

George Satterwhite

George was born December 8, 1966, in Edgefield, South Carolina, to Ernest Satterwhite Sr. and Bessie Mae Loman Satterwhite. He departed this life and entered into rest on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Emory University.

George was educated in the Edgefield County Public Schools. He drove school buses during his high school years. George graduated from Strom Thurmond High School in 1985.

George later moved to Columbia, SC where he lived until 2008, then he moved to Atlanta, GA until his death.

George loved to dance, cook, travel, listen to music, take walks at the park, spend time with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. He loved life and enjoyed “every second” of life as he would always say. He loved to have a goodtime and make people laugh. No matter where George went, he never met a stranger. He was the life of any party. He would brighten anybody’s day.

You never seen George with his head down. If he was going through anything, you couldn’t tell. George had a heart of gold. He would truly give you the shirt off of his back. He loved to help people in any way that he could. George was loved dearly and he will be truly missed, his love, presence, and spirit. John was born to the late Joseph Rhynes and Claudine P. Rhynes in Edgefield, SC.

He joined Springfield Missionary Baptist Church at an early age where he served as a Trustee.

He attended Strom Thurmond High and was employed at Shaw Industries Aiken Plant 78 for over 25 years. He was an avid San Franciso 49ers fan. He enjoyed fishing, listening to old school music, grilling and spending time with his family and friends.

He was married on July 22, 1995, to Denice Moore Rhynes. To this union three sons were born: Terrell J. Rhynes, Montrell J. Rhynes, and John B. Rhynes, Jr.

He is also survived by six siblings Joseph (Dorothy) Rhynes, Wanda (Ronald) Mason, LaShora Boyd, Claudine (Leonard) Gray, Lula (Aurthur) Gaulden, and a special sister, his donor, Pamela (Leroy) Anderson. Brother-in-laws Willie Moore, Jr., Henry Moore, Ronnie Moore, Dennis (Tiffany) Moore, Fredrick Moore, Joseph (Machelle) Moore, Ronnie Bulter, Ricky Bulter, and Micheal Bulter. Sisters-in-law Daisy Brunson, Lizzie Turner, Mary (James) Jones, and Esther Moore, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

Minister George Williams, Jr. "Gee"

George Williams, Jr. was born October 8, 1997 in Greenwood, South Carolina to his Mother, Diane Johnson, and Father, George Williams, Sr. He departed this earthly life on Monday, December 9, 2024 at his home in Edgefield, South Carolina, under Hospice Care and began his eternal life.

Minister “Gee” was a beloved Husband, Father, Son, Uncle, Chef, Friend, but most importantly a Man of God. George had a love and a passion for loving and feeding the people. He was loved by many and known to be a dedicated member to his church, group, and his ministry. He served as a faithful Elder of the church, choir member and leader of his group.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to his wife Sajada Williams, in the union they birthed a beautiful baby girl “Amaria Jade Williams” (pepa). He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sarah Williams, Bobby Williams, and Johnny Tillman.

Mrs. Joann Brown

Homegoing Services for Mrs. Joann Brown will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 1:00 pm at St. Mark Baptist Church, 337 Devil’s Backbone Rd, Leesville, SC 29070. Rev. Dr. Amos O. Harling, Pastor, will officiate.

Deaconess Joann Brown was a beloved wife, parent, sibling, and friend, whose life was a testament to kindness, perseverance, and the quiet strength that comes from living with purpose and compassion.

Born on December 7, 1955, Joann was born to the late Horace and Gladys McKiever. A proud graduate of Batesburg-Leesville High School, Joann poured back into her community after establishing her family and took pride in the role that she played on Bus 19. Serving Lexington School District 3 for many years, she became a beacon of the community and was loved by all children who rode her bus.

Those who knew Joann would describe her as someone who brought warmth into every room, someone whose laughter could light up even the darkest of days. She lived a life grounded in love for family and friends, always ready with a helping hand, a listening ear, and a heart open to those in need.

Joann was a dedicated member of Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully on the usher board, deaconess ministry, and couples ministry. She found joy in serving others and being a comfort and shoulder to lean on. It was in the way she made others feel that her true legacy lives on - by making them feel seen, heard, and valued.

Joann was preceded in death by her brothers, James Leo McKiever, Sr. and Larry D. McKiever; brother-in-law, Julius (Annie) Richardson; and sister-in-law, Patricia Brown.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Willie Brown; her children, Willeana (Dionsyius) Kearse and Delvin (Ami) Brown. She is also survived by her brother, Deacon Jimmy (Deaconess Eva) McKiever, Sr.; sister-in-laws, Sylvia Brown, Marie Lytes, and Betty Jean McKiever; and grandchildren, Shandrai Brown, Dai’Marcus Brown, Dionysia Kearse, Mackenzie Brown, Ryan Kearse, Aleena Perez, Khloe Brown, Jaxson Williams, and Javen Brown; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, as well as many beloved friends who are left to celebrate her life.
